It has been designed by Project Groundwater, a regional initiative funded by DEFRA since 2021, which has been exploring innovative approaches to managing groundwater flooding through close collaboration with communities and local, regional and national organisations. This has included piloting a Groundwater Flood Warning Service, carrying out Property Flood Resilience (PFR) surveys, and empowering community-led action through a brand new Innovation Fund. Alongside this, the project has been developing Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) schemes, supporting flood action groups to form / grow, and delivering school engagement sessions to raise awareness and build long-term resilience. As Project Groundwater draws to a close in March 2027, with most activities wrapping up by the end of 2026, we are keen to understand how it may have benefited your community and what further support you might find helpful in the remaining months of the project and beyond.
